ABOUT

Steven was first called to the Queensland Bar in 2015.  Prior to becoming a barrister, he worked as a solicitor in the medico-legal sector and as a police prosecutor in New South Wales.
Steven accepts briefs in Family Law, Criminal, Domestic Violence and Child Protection matters. 

He is also willing to be briefed in Legal Aid matters and is prepared to do circuit work.

• Admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales in 2007 before being admitted to the High Court of Australia in 2015.

• Steven is an experienced Family Resolution Dispute Practitioner and regularly uses his mediation skills to resolve trials as efficiently as possible as he recognises its preferable for parties to consent to orders, rather than having orders imposed upon the parties at trial.​ 

• As a solicitor, Steven worked in a variety of public sector positions in both New South Wales and Queensland, culminating in his appointment as the Legal Manager for the Australian Health Practitioners Agency in its Queensland office.

• He has maintained his interest in Health Law and Ethics and lectures at the University of Queensland.

• Between 2016 and 2022, he was contracted by Queensland Corrective Services to attend prisons in Queensland to take complaints from prisoners, independently assess the merits of those complaints and make recommendations. 

• Steven is recognised for his tireless commitment to the community by being presented with the Commissioner for Corrective Services, Queensland’s  Challenge Coin in 2022.

• He is a member of both the Family Legal Practitioners Association and the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia

• He is also a member of the Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast Bars. 

• Steven is a member of the Bar’s Criminal Law Committee.
